Between was launched from the necessity for highlight the impact that the environment causes on the heritage. On this basis, we analyzed the conditions that the buildings that surrounds the Royal Palace in Madrid and Casa de Campo offer to their residents, but also their appearance and integration have been analyzed.
COVID-19 crisis has placed upon the table the importance of decent housing, that brings us closer to the environment and with spaces that allows us to develop certain uses for which the housing was not designed.

A group of buildings have been selected as they are the major barrier to the landscape (the higher and disruptive ones). They are placed in one of the most vulnerable districts, with fewer square meters per person, and more elderly people living alone. The created system consists on a skin that raises as a new light steel structure closed with sliding glasses which enables the ventilation of rooms but even their opening.

Plan view, those galleries are configured according to each neighbor necessities, furthermore it is divided in more isolated nuclei that allow to amplify and connect rooms removing the previous enclosure system, but also less isolated nuclei detached from the residence with the capacity to become an external space.
The elevation setting allows two different types of facade: the North vertical one; and the 73º sloping facade in South, which is the sunlight incidence angle in summer solstice.
This way we are improving thermal efficiency in the apartments, due to the creation of a gallery which keeps warm in winter and favors shade on summer facade.
All this leads to achieve long life in buildings that were constructed in the 1960s and that are becoming outdated but also maintaining their important location, so it is worth it to upgrade them.
